What this means for families
If a bike isn't EN15194 compliant, think twice — several states can now seize non-compliant bikes, and rules are only tightening. "Off-road use only" fine print is the tell.
From 31 August 2026, 12–17 year olds can ride e-bikes under parental supervision; riders 16+ can get a learner licence and ride independently.
